Quantum computers aren’t built in a day. Certainly not without a Team Lead for our Qubit Labs to shape our application roadmap.

What will you do?

Team Lead Qubit Labs

Are you interested in quantum technology and eager to make an impact in the rapidly evolving field of quantum computing?  Qblox is seeking a talented Team Lead Qubit Labs to join our quantum application engineering department.

The company

Qblox is a deep tech scaleup whose mission is to accelerate the worldwide race towards building scalable quantum computers. We do this by providing the world's best quantum control stacks.

We combine hardware with excellent analog performance with easy to use software. We develop a modular system packed with high-end FPGAs that are synchronized with nanosecond precision, high-speed digital interfaces to multi-gigasample data converters, and ultra low-noise and low drift analog (RF) circuits. The FPGAs contain, among other things, our proprietary sequence processors that generate the pulses that control the quantum hardware.

To interface with our equipment, we develop a software stack consisting of low-level drivers, compilers and assemblers written in C/C++ and higher-level tools written in Python.

Our products are used by R&D teams globally to accelerate the development of operational quantum computers and quantum networks. The technology we are developing is compatible with a broad range of qubit technologies.

What will you do?

In this role you will lead a team of 5 application engineers that work in Qblox’ Qubit labs. The team is developing the application toolkit to increase ease of use for our customers and enable our sales organisation, and is executing strategic technical integration projects with our partners. To enable this development and integration the team runs and maintains two qubit setups, one with superconducting qubits and the other with spin qubits.

As a Team Lead for the Qubits Labs, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Team organisation:

  • Lead and mentor the work for a team of quantum application engineers focused on application development.

  • Set clear expectations, assign tasks, and apply metrics to triage and prioritize resources and workflow.

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and find opportunities for training and development.

  • Develop a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting effective communication and knowledge exchange.

  • Be an ambassador for Qblox company values and translate them to the team’s day-to-day activities.

Stakeholder management:

  • Communicate project updates, challenges, and achievements to senior leadership, and other stakeholders to optimize prioritization and resource allocation.

  • Coordinate with other teams and departments to ensure smooth workflows and timely delivery of tasks and projects.

  • Represent the team internally and externally (e.g. for partnerships or at conferences)

Technical responsibilities:

  • Act as a product owner for the Qblox application toolkit

  • Proactively drive process improvements in the team and between teams.

  • Continuously improve the lab infrastructure, to ensure future readiness.

  • Shape Qblox’ qubit research roadmap for different qubit modalities with input from commercial stakeholders.

Job requirements

Enough about us, what about you?
To really enjoy the role, we anticipate that you will possess the following demonstrated skills:

  • Experience in mentoring of individuals in a team lead role.

  • PhD in Physics or a related field, preferably a background in multiple qubit modalities.

  • Experience in building and debugging experimental setups with RF signals, microwaves, DC equipment, cryostats, QPUs, and other general lab equipment.

  • Excellent decision making skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Comfortable working in cross-functional, international teams — across time zones and cultural boundaries.

  • Enthusiastic about working directly with partners, identifying emerging needs, and contributing to early-stage technical discussions.

  • A drive to stay up to date with scientific literature in quantum technology, specifically on superconducting circuits
