Team Lead – Electronics & Mechanical

  • Hybrid
    • Delft, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands
  • €85,000 - €100,000 per year
  • Electrical Engineering

What will you do?

Are you driven to lead high-performing engineering teams and deliver cutting-edge hardware in the world of quantum computing?

At Qblox, we're accelerating the worldwide race to build scalable quantum computers, providing the world's best quantum control stacks. We're not just building hardware; we're building the future.

Where you come in: As our Team Lead (Electronics & Mechanical), you will take technical and people leadership for one of the core functional teams developing our second-generation quantum control platform. Based at our Delft headquarters in a hybrid setup, you will drive the hardware design; spanning analog, RF, mixed-signal, high-speed digital electronics, as well as mechanical packaging and thermal management. You are the crucial link turning architectural vision into robust, manufacturable hardware while mentoring and growing a multidisciplinary team of engineers.

What you'll do:

  • Drive Technical Excellence: Own the design approach for your team’s platform modules, lead reviews across schematics, PCB layout, and mechanical constraints, and actively resolve complex hardware challenges hands-on.

  • Lead & Mentor Engineers: Line-manage, coach, and develop electronics and mechanical engineers, running regular 1-on-1s, driving performance development, and leading hiring to build team capacity.

  • Own Execution & Milestones: Translate work-stream roadmaps and architectural requirements into clear sprint plans and realistic delivery schedules, balancing engineering workloads with component lead times.

  • Bridge Multi-Disciplinary Interfaces: Collaborate closely with Quantum Systems Architects, Technical Project Managers, and Central Engineering to align on cross-team integration, verification, and smooth manufacturing hand-overs at Beta Exit.

  • Manage Hardware Risks: Proactively navigate design trade-offs, thermal margins, signal/power integrity, EMC compliance, and component lifecycles to ensure reliable hardware releases.

Why you'll love it:

  • Ignite Your Drive: Work at the bleeding edge of deep-tech and quantum computing—an industry redefining the boundaries of modern science.

  • Shape Next-Gen Architecture: Play a direct leadership role in building the second-generation platform that powers top quantum laboratories globally.

  • Collaborate with Brilliance: Partner daily with world-class physicists, systems architects, and specialized engineers in an open, high-trust environment.

  • Continuous Growth & Leadership: Benefit from dedicated leadership coaching and significant room to scale your scope alongside Qblox’s rapid international expansion.

Job requirements

Enough about us, what about you? To truly excel and lead the charge in this role, we envision you'll have the following skills and experience:

The Non-Negotiables:

  • Technical Foundation: A BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Applied Physics, Mechatronics, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Proven Hardware Background: 7+ years of experience developing complex electronic hardware, including deep hands-on expertise in multi-layer PCB design, high-speed/mixed-signal/RF design, and board bring-up/lab characterization.

  • People Leadership: 2+ years of direct line management experience guiding engineers through goal setting, coaching, technical hiring, and career progression.

  • Delivery Track Record: Demonstrated ownership of hardware deliverables within cross-functional environments, utilizing Agile, Kanban, or hybrid delivery frameworks alongside stage-gated development.

  • Mechanical & Thermal Literacy: Solid working understanding of enclosure, thermal, and cabling integration (airflow, shielding, structural packaging) to effectively guide mechanical engineers.

  • Fluent English: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate smoothly across international, multi-disciplinary stakeholders.

Other things that will help you really enjoy the role:

  • Experience within instrumentation, test & measurement, cryogenic environments, or high-precision electronics.

  • Practical background bringing hardware products from initial prototype through full stage-gate/PLM cycles to volume production with contract manufacturers.

  • A genuine curiosity about or prior exposure to quantum computing technologies.
